Special Award - Spirit of NHS Staff
Swansea NHS Trust – John Desmond submitted an entry into the competition for a general recycling scheme he established in the Trust. The aim of the scheme is to reduce waste in the use of office equipment and other general facilities. The fierce level of competition meant that John’s project didn’t win one of the innovation prizes but the WIsH management team felt that the entry stood out in other ways. WIsH Director Shane Booth said in his address that the project reflected the high levels of decency, motivation and commitment of staff. That is the basis of the success and strength of the NHS.
The WIsH team were so impressed by the level of John’s commitment that they created and presented to him a special prize for the spirit of NHS staff in Wales.
